糖心vlog鈥檚 College of Information Technology and Engineering conducted their 2026 Capstone Exhibit for BSIT (Bachelor of Science in Information Technology) and BSCPE (Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering) graduating students. They presented their innovative capstone projects featuring sustainable engineering and game-changing software which were designed to address community challenges, improve lives, and drive sustainability.
Andrei Acosta, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student, developed Klinika, a client-based dental management system designed to help dental clinics manage patient records more efficiently. The project was built with a specific user in mind: dentists who are either just starting their practice after graduation or those who have been in the field for years and need a simpler way to organize their clinic’s records.
The Dental System
For small dental clinics run by new graduates or long-practicing dentists alike, keeping track of patient records, appointments, and dental charts can quickly become a juggling act.
The system is structured around a straightforward patient workflow. When a new patient walks in, Klinika allows staff to create a complete new record for the clinic, capturing the information needed from the very first visit. Returning patients, on the other hand, can proceed directly to booking their appointments without repeating the intake process. This distinction keeps the front-desk experience efficient for both first-time and regular patients.
Beyond scheduling, Klinika centralizes the tools dentists rely on daily, including the dental chart, giving practitioners a single place to track a patient’s oral health history and treatment progress. The entire system runs on a laptop, making it accessible and practical for smaller clinics that may not have extensive IT infrastructure or dedicated administrative staff.
The Overlooked Practice
By focusing on small-scale dental practices, whether run by a newly licensed dentist building a client base or an established one looking to modernize, Klinika addresses a gap often overlooked by larger, more complex clinic management software. Its design favors simplicity and usability over an overload of features, making it easier for dentists to adopt without a steep learning curve.
Andrei’s project reflects a practical understanding of the everyday needs of small dental practices, where efficient recordkeeping directly impacts patient care. By digitizing what used to be manual, paper-based processes, Klinika gives dentists more time to focus on their patients rather than their filing cabinets.
